Basics & definitions
Can you get drunk on alcohol-free beer?
No, realistically not. At 0.05% ABV or below, you would need to drink dozens of cans in a very short space of time for the alcohol content to add up to anything your body would register - and you would be full and bloated long before that became a factor.
Even the higher end of the scale - a 0.5% "de-alcoholised" beer - is roughly a tenth of the strength of a standard 5% lager. It is not something anyone realistically gets drunk on.
What people sometimes mistake for the effects of alcohol is the ritual and taste doing the psychological work - the fizz, the bitterness, the context of having a drink in your hand. That is a real effect, just not a chemical one.
